Power2 Engineer - Electrical Design Tool Developer


General Information

Hitachi Energy Transformers Business Unit is seeking an Electrical Engineer in Power2 Engineering Development Program at Hub North America Engineering function. The program offers you an accelerated professional growth, obtained through engineering technical trainings. It offers tailored and robust curriculum, with diverse project assignments that delivers a visible and significant contribution to your development plan and contribution to transformers business.

This role will be located at Raleigh, NC. You will get an opportunity of learning the Engineering Product design skills and processes end to end, with the goal of supporting the Transformer Design tools and calculations in North America.

Typical duties/responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Learn about the Transformers & Components business, products portfolio, manufacturing industry, and operations including business functions.
  • Understand the design calculations and transformers basics to use in optimization tools.
  • Evaluate transformer performance and trouble shoot calculations in design tools.
  • Improve the interfaces and data transfers between Engineering and cross functional teams.
  • Review inefficiencies in current process and enable automation and manual checks.
  • Take a lead in the development, implementation, training, and long-term support of the electrical design software for Transformer Design.
  • Plan and upgrade code-base of design software to latest .Net core framwork.
  • Building Azure based application (.Net core).
  • Create/Update the architecture of Hitachi Energy products focusing on electrical design tools.
  • Drive innovation, creating POC on new technologies and new architectures.
  • Creating/maintaining CI/CD pipeline.
  • Implement new features, bug fixing, and code refactoring as required.
  • Work in an Agile multinational team.
  • Documentation of new development efforts.
  • Escalate issues to the appropriate project or team manager as needed.
  • Debug and fix bugs to improve design quality.

Requirement and qualification:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering / computer science or similar with 2-5 years of programming related experience will be plus.
  • Understanding transformers or physics & magnetics is a plus.
  • Understanding thermal calculations or sizing calculations is a plus.
  • Hands-on programming experience with .Net framework 4.8 (VB.Net or C#).
  • Hands-on programming experience with C# .Net Core preferred.
  • Knowledge using version control system git.
  • Experience with SQL server (MS SQL).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipeline in Azure environment.
  • Familiar with modern project management tools and processes (Azure DevOps, Agile, etc.).
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken.
  • Working knowledge in Azure Development (Batch, Docker, Queues, Functions, Storage, MSSQL)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Accepts positive change and can communicate outcomes and benefits to others.
  • Deep understanding of technical aspects in multiple disciplines or functional areas and ability to make deep-dive analyses on complex projects.
  • Ability to lead risk assessments together with leading the mitigation actions on the global technology organizational level.
  • Minimum of 2 –5 years of experience in electrical design and development, with a focus on programming/Software development in transformers industry.
