Auxiliary relays

RXMB 1
The RXMB 1 is a general purpose auxiliary relay offering multiple contact and coil configuration arrangements. Versions of the relay are available as a pin-compatible replacement for RXMA 1 and RXMM 1. Other versions provide up to 4 individual relays in one module, making compact assemblies for auxiliary relay logic etc.

The high-speed of operation allows the relay to be used for trip auxiliary functions. Some versions are available with LED indication. The relay is available in dc and ac versions.

RXMB 2
The RXMB 2 auxiliary relay supplements the RXMB 1 by providing additional usable contacts. The RXMB 2 provides high-speed operation and offers several configurations with regard to number of contacts and coil configurations. One version provides 4 independent relays with two change-over contacts each. Another version provides one relay assembly with 10 change-over contacts. A third relay variant provides 15 contacts.

The relay is available with contact configurations according to the earlier relay type RXMA 2 and may therefor be used when such contact configurations are needed e.g when replacing an earlier standard application.

Please note that the operating times differ and that the new RXMB 2 relay is faster both on pick-up and drop-out. Other operating requirements, such as an elevated pick-up level may be achieved using the RTXV.

The RXMC 1 auxiliary relay supplements the RXMB 1 series by providing LED indications on all models. Versions with yellow or red LED's are available.

The RXMC 1 provides high-speed operation through the use of series resistors. One higher rated contact is available on two models through the use of two series connected internal contacts which offers about 30 % increased interruption capacity.

The RXMC 1 relay is available with contact configurations according to the earlier relay type RXMM 1. RXMC 1 may therefor be used when such contact configurations are needed e.g when replacing an earlier standard application.

Please note that the operating times differ and that the new RXMC 1 relay is faster both on pick-up and drop-out. Other operating requirements, such as an elevated pick-up level may be achieved using the RTXV.

RXMD 1 and RXMD 2 relays are used for general power system latching relay installations. The relays are available for electrical operations only.

The relays are particularly suitable in protection and control circuits. They are well encapsulated and therefor also suitable for use in applications with corrosive or polluted atmosphere. The operating time is short; about 4 ms. The relays have change-over contacts that can be used for making or breaking operation. This makes these configurations universally applicable.

RXMD 1 and RXMD 2 are bistable auxiliary remanence type relays with two windings. The contacts are of the medium duty type. One of the windings is used to operate the contacts into one position, and the other winding resets the contacts back to the first position.

The relay can be continuous energized or pulse operated, which means that the contacts remain in their last position if the supply voltage drops. If one of the coils is energized and then the other coil is energized the relay will remain in the first position.

RXME 1
RXME 1 is an auxiliary relay often used as a heavy-duty compact tripping relay or as an output relay in a protective relay assembly. It has heavy-duty contacts with high breaking capacity and high closing reliability. Due to the use of a bridge contact design having two interrupting elements in series per contact, heavy-duty current interrupting rating is ensured and the risk of contact welding is minimized.

RXME 1 is designed for dc operation. Two or four contacts are available. The relay is used where a low number of heavy-duty contacts are required - e.g. as a breaker tripping relay.

RXME 18
RXME 18 consists of an RXME 1 relay fitted with a red indicating flag. The flag becomes visible when the armature picks-up and remains visible after drop-out.

The flag is manually reset by means of a resetting knob located on the cover. The relay has two contacts.

RXMH 2 is an auxiliary relay with heavy-duty bridge contacts. It is used as a tripping relay or as a protective multi-contact output relay. It has a high breaking capacity, good contact reliability and is free from risk of contact welding. RXMH 2 is used when many heavy-duty contacts are required.

RXMH 2 can, as an option, be provided with an operating flag indicator. The flag becomes visible when the armature picks-up and remains visible after drop-out. The flag is manually reset by means of a resetting knob in the cover. For checking the operation the relay has a push-button which is accessible through a hole in the cover. The relay occupies two seats.

RXMM 1 is used as position repeat relay, interposing relay in control equipment or as output relay in protective relays. The relay is space saving, with two coils, each with 3 contacts for applications where few contacts are needed. The relay is designed for dc supply. Two smaller type relays are included in RXMM 1. 

The relays are intended for installations where high operating requirements exist, on operating time, contact rating (heavy breaking duty) or else where normal relays of industrial type are not suitable. The relays are especially suitable in protection and control circuits. Models exist that are very suitable for high corrosive atmosphere or seismic areas.

Tripping, interblocking and multiplying functions are easily achieved with single relays or combinations of relays. Special requirements can be met by using different contact types, twin contacts, bridge contacts or dry-reed contacts

The High Burden Tripping Relay provides enhanced security in the substations and avoids opening of the circuit breaker due to capacitive discharge currents when there is an earth fault in long DC cables. The self reset trip relay RXMN fulfill applicable international standards.

RXMS 1 is particularly suitable as tripping relay due to its extremely short operate time and high dc current contact making capacity. Up to six contacts are available. One version of RXMS 1 is not influenced by capacitive discharges in dc battery systems during earth-faults.

That version has an increased voltage insulation level across open contacts and is used where high disturbance immunity is required. The RTXV voltage control unit may be used to increase operating value above half the battery voltage value.

RXMS 1 is often used in combination with heavy-duty and multi-contact auxiliary relays, e.g. RXME 1, RXME 18 and RXMH 2. This provides high-speed tripping contacts from RXMS 1 and contacts from the slower heavy-duty relays are used in parallel to provide current interrupting capability. This is often used as an accessory to protective relays in a station for secure operation of the included breakers and allows the trip circuit current interruption even if there is a breaker failure.

The RXMS 1 relay is designed for DC supply.

RXMT 1 is an auxiliary, dry-reed contact relay. It is used when sealed high-speed contacts are required. Due to the sealed encapsulated contact, it is suitable for highly corrosive atmospheres. It should not be positioned alongside relays with powerful magnets that may cause RXMT 1 to remain in the picked-up position.

RXMT 1 has 2 dc-supplied dry-reed relays, each with one make or break contact. The relay provides very fast operation - 1,5 ms. The burden is less than 1 W per relay.

RXMVB 2
Bistable relay with 8 heavy-duty and 2 series coil contacts.

RXMVB 2 is a relay used in lockout applications on transformers, and in industry and general control where high breaking capacity bistable contacts are desired. The relay is also applied where switching of current transformer secondary and trip circuits are required.

RXMVB is a heavy-duty permanent magnet bistable relay. Because of RXMVB 2 coil cut-off contacts, this relay is also applied where the upper limit of the supply voltage can exceed the continuous voltage rating. This feature can also be used to speed up the relay operating time. I.e. a 48 V DC relay may be applied at 125 V DC when high-speed is of the essence. Series resistors can also be used to speed up voltage relays operated at higher voltages.

A flag can be added as an option to all RXMVB 2 relays.
