Meet our people: Enrique Martinez

My name is Enrique Martinez, I’m an Account Manager in the Marketing & Sales team based in Mexico, and I develop commercial partnerships as well as provide technical support to strategic clients with the objective of promoting and selling our equipment and systems.

I was born and raised in Mexico City and studied Industrial Engineering at the Tlalnepantla Technological Institute (ITTLA).

I’ve faced many challenges throughout my career in Hitachi Energy, as I’m focused on selling high voltage substations and those projects can last anywhere from 2 to 5 years. I’ve had to tour transmission lines in the field; one time I was even chased by a couple of dogs!

I remember one of the most demanding and stressing projects I was involved with was a data center for one of the biggest banks in Mexico, located in the Atizapán de Zaragoza municipality.  

We had an excellent team, and our technical proposal presentation was well-received, but due to some legal complications I needed to work my way as a lawyer would to close the deal and get everyone’s signature for the final contract.

I’m very passionate about my work in sales and all the complexity that it entails. I’ve been in this organization for 20 years and I feel very proud to be a part of it, because it has allowed me and my family to accomplish many personal goals and projects.

After so many years, I’ve come to understand that we never really finish learning. I’ve learned to use new tools such as Capture Team Selling (CTS) to get a deeper sense of a client’s structure, identify our weaknesses and strengths compared to our competitors.

Also, more on the personal side, I’ve learned all about carpentry and have come to love building closets and other furniture.

I’m excited to know that there will always be new challenges in the future, and wherever I meet them, I’ll do my best to face them with determination, serenity, and wisdom.
