My Power Grids Story - Julio Oliveira
I am proud to be Power Grids because of the knowledge I gain from working in a company that is recognized as a leader in several segments, by partners and stakeholders. Challenge, opportunity and learning are three words that describe my career at Hitachi ABB Power Grids.
In my line of work, there is a challenge to learn every new technology despite our own ‘suspicion.’ Despite the fear that comes from having no previous experience in using something new, we realize that these new techniques bring so many benefits. Realizing that digitalization increases and contributes to efficiency, reduces global costs and reduces operational risks, we turn the challenge into a learning opportunity. We need to know how to use every new technology that comes, so its value reaches the customers and stakeholders.
At Power Grids, what has always been striking for me is knowing that the work I do—energizing an enterprise or substations that feed or transmit energy to a region—contributes to improving the life of an entire community. Moreover, the techniques that permeate Industry 4.0 seek not only to improve system performances, but also aim at cleaner, smarter, and greener grids. For example, the reduction of materials in the construction of digital substations has a strong appeal in reducing carbon emissions. When you get the job done in less time and with less materials, you naturally have less impact on the environment.
