For long transmission links like QNI, power quality becomes a major concern. Maintaining a stable voltage profile across the line can be challenging and failing to do so will result to failure of electrical equipment. Recognizing the impact of an unreliable power supply, capacitor banks have been installed across the transmission line to help maintain a uniform voltage profile across the network.

Capacitor vacuum switches PS

The PS is a product family of solid dielectric vacuum switches suitable for use in distribution systems up to 38 kV ungrounded. The switches have been specifically made for heavy duty capacitor switching applications and tested in accordance with IEEE C37.66 for operation in the harshest climatic conditions.

Metal enclosed capacitor banks ABBACUS

The ABBACUS family of metal enclosed capacitor banks (MECB) are a packaged factory assembled and tested reactive compensation system with modular fixed or switched capacitor steps, which automatically compensate an individual load or of the network to maintain a preset level of power factor (cos phi)

Capacitor bank controller CQ series

The efficiency of transmission and distribution systems can be improved by operating the system at a near unity power factor. This increases real power availability and improves the economics related to power handling. Capacitors are the simplest and most cost effective way of improving power factor.
