Highlights & Customer Success Stories

History of Hitachi Energy in Indonesia

Since 1980s, Hitachi Energy in Indonesia has a long-standing presence, expanding footprint and proven track record in Indonesia. With approximately 300 employees, we have contributed further to the development of the country’s power infrastructure to serve its growing economy and vibrant population.

In 2016, Hitachi Energy in Indonesia established a global software development center in Bali which is aligned with the government plan to build local competencies in Indonesia and meet government's requirements in having more local content. The center provides a number of enterprise-class software applications to keep businesses running reliably and efficiently. Our global software development center in Bali plays an important role in our global enterprise software development team.

As part of the company's strong commitment in nurturing future Indonesian talent, we have established a partnership with the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) in 2017 to develop advanced technologies and undertake joint studies and research, in areas like integration of renewables and the digitalization of power grid.

In 2018, we inaugurated its new manufacturing unit in Tangerang which spreads over 3,400 square meters and has been designed on the principles of Lean production to manufacture air-insulated switchgear (AIS) and gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) up to 170 kV. Modern process techniques such as lean manufacturing, lean administration, just-in-time, one-piece flow, kaizen and theory of constraints are applied. The use of these new techniques helps to achieve top industry standards such as: shortest delivery times, reliable on-time delivery, highest quality level, rapid response to customer requirements, highest cost-efficiency, and best performance. Our commitment to state-of-the-art quality and environmental standards have been recognized by the ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14001:2004 certifications for our operations, and with OHSAS 18001:2007 for the health and safety systems we have in place to protect the people we employ in Indonesia, as well as our contractors and customers affected by our activities.

This footprint expansion underlines our ongoing commitment to Indonesia, supporting the country’s efforts to strengthen its power transmission infrastructure, enhance grid reliability and helping meet the country’s growing demand for electricity while having the commitment to be closer to serve our customers.
