HVDC Service Engineer

Mission Statement:

Field Service Engineering work is focused on providing technical advice to customers including commissioning, installing, and testing of products/equipment including: Identifying and correcting more complex problems associated with start-up. Researching, evaluating, and recommending new products or equipment upgrades that will meet customer needs. Developing on-going relationships with customers to secure future business. May resolve/troubleshoot implementation problems and/or train customers on the features of the equipment they have purchased An Experienced Professional (P2) applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. May require the following proficiency: Works independently with general supervision. Problems faced are difficult but typically not complex. May influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices.

Your responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment towards health, safety and environmental standards and guidelines,
  • Actively act as a customer Interface for HVDC installed base and maintain good rapport,
  • Trouble shooting and restoring HVDC equipment/system during failure/outage with support of technical expert,
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for HVDC/HVAC equipment,
  • Monitor HVDC installed base with Asset Management tool which shall include performance monitoring and inventory management,
  • Coordinate with different internal/external stakeholders, OEM for fulfillment of warranty obligations,
  • Handle replacement/installation of HVDC/HVAC equipment's due to equipment failure,
  • Understand warranty, reliability and availability, LTSA conditions of contract and support Service Project Manager with necessary inputs & reports,
  • Create and document RNOD/MOM for the work carried out at customer premises,
  • A high degree of flexibility, willingness to travel at home and abroad.

Your background:

  • Candidate should have degree in bachelor/master's in engineering with relevant years of work experience.
  • Should have hands-on experience in equipment testing and commissioning of EHV/HV/LV AIS & GIS substations/power plants,
  • Should have good knowledge and experience of different AC substation configurations/schemes, controls, protections, IED configurations,
  • Familiar with electrical and mechanical auxiliary system commissioning & trouble shooting such as Switchgear, Battery & Batter charger, Diesel Generator, Firefighting, Ventilation, Air conditioning, BMS etc.,
  • Basic knowledge to carry out few modifications in SCADA, Networking, PLC’s,
  • HVDC experience is an advantage,
  • Graduate/Postgraduate in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics Engineering
  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required
