Hitachi Energy Việt Nam trao tặng Máy biến áp cho EVN NPC

In September 2024, typhoon Yagi hit the Northern provinces of Vietnam, causing severe damage to power lines and distribution transformer stations. The storm also flooded and damaged many transformers and thousands of electrical cabinets and electric meters, leaving the region in dire need of recovery.

Hitachi Energy Vietnam stepped in to help. On October 29, 2024, the company donated 4 transformers to help Northern Power Corporation (EVN NPC) in restoring the grid, with Hai Duong Power Company Limited (Hai Duong PC) assigned to take over the machines.

Deputy General Director of EVN NPC Vu Anh Phuong (left) signed the handover document with Nguyen Viet Phuong, Transformers Factory Operations Director.

Vu Anh Phuong, Deputy General Director of EVN NPC, emphasized the severity of typhoon Yagi’s impact, mentioning that it caused the worst damage in the past five years. “Two months after the typhoon, EVN is still working to recover the grid. The provinces of Quang Ninh, Hai Phong and Hai Duong suffered the most damage.” On behalf of EVN NPC, he expressed his appreciation to Hitachi Energy for their transformer donation and looked forward to continued collaboration in organizing training sessions, exchanging experiences on equipment repair and maintenance, and sharing new technologies to support the development of a sustainable and efficient power grid.

At the donation ceremony, Nguyen Viet Phuong, Transformers Factory Operations Director, highlighted the company’s swift response to the crisis. “We took immediate action to support the community by calling for employees’ donations in cash. In addition, under our CSR program, Hitachi Energy Vietnam donated transformers to the national transmission utility. Hitachi Energy Vietnam hopes that we can join hands with EVN in restoring the power grid and help people get back to their normal lives,” said Phuong.

On behalf of Hitachi Energy Vietnam, Nguyen Viet Phuong, Transformers Factory Operations Director supported the cooperation proposal and introduced the new transformer factory in Bac Ninh, inaugurated in November 2023 to meet global demand. The factory's capacity was doubled, and it now uses environmentally friendly SR3 ester oil. Moving forward, the factory will focus on using environmentally friendly materials to meet the needs of both domestic and international markets for renewable energy.
