Metawee Nichee, Women in Service
My name is Metawee Nichee. I am a service sales engineer with the High Voltage (HV) Products Service Team in Thailand and work with customers in the Utilities and Industries sectors. I have been with Hitachi Energy for the last year and four months. This is my first job since I graduated with my engineering degree from Mongkut's University of Technology North Bangkok.
As a service sales engineer, my work combines engineering and sales skills. Armed with my knowledge of technology associated with Gas Insulated Substations (GIS) and Air Insulated Substations (AIS) products, I visit customers' sites. After collecting the necessary information from the customer site, my team and I brainstorm optimal solutions for the customer's needs. I was elated to be recognized for my work by the global product team during a global webcast in January.
The recognition and speaking about my experiences with my colleagues from different countries across the globe inspires me to bring my best to work every day.
Breaking The Bias
I am the first and only woman to be a sales service engineer in Thailand. The HV service team currently has only two women. I love the opportunities this job provides me, as I interact with customers and visit various locations across Thailand. The chance to use my knowledge and skills I believe more women should opt for getting into the service side. As long as you have the knowledge, ability, health, and mindset, nothing will prevent you from enjoying this job.
My team, supervisor, and Hitachi Energy have provided me with the support I need to do my work and excel in my career. I have shown that a woman can do a service job in Thailand, and there is no difference in the work that my male colleagues and I do.
