Partner’s Day 2023 in Vietnam: A great customer engagement event

First customer reunion after the pandemic

On March 24th, 2023, over 250 participants from 64 companies gathered at the Partner’s Day event hosted by Hitachi Energy Vietnam in Hanoi. This is one of the biggest customer engagement activities in FY2022 after a quiet year due to COVID-19 pandemic. The Partner’s Day aimed to provide a platform for networking, enabling discussions amongst participants, and facilitating interactions with Hitachi Energy’s customers.

With the theme of "Co-creation towards sustainable energy for all", the event also aimed to introduce innovative technologies and the latest trends shaping the future through workshops hosted by Hitachi Energy's local and regional experts. The company expects to become an essential partner for customers, on their mission to create a more sustainable, flexible and secure energy system while balancing social, environmental and economic value.

Faith and appreciation for the Vietnamese market

Delivering the opening speech, Chandan Singh, Country Managing Director of Hitachi Energy Vietnam reminded attendees of the foundation the company established for transformer manufacturing in Vietnam in 1994. With an introduction to the actual elevation of the new transformer factory in Bac Ninh, he emphasized that the multi-million-dollar project reflected Hitachi Energy’s faith and appreciation for the Vietnamese market.

Partner’s Day was also an opportunity for Chandan Singh to briefly introduce the world's first EconiQ 420 kV circuit-breaker. This breakthrough technology, along with Power Quality, HVDC and Digitalization are the solutions that Hitachi Energy expects to be at the core of the energy transition with customers over the next few years.

Talking about the critical role of energy transition in climate change, Yep Min Teo, Senior Vice President of Grid Automation, Asia Pacific, Hitachi Energy addressed the responsibility of everybody in this trend and the challenges in bringing green energy to the community, including reliability and cost efficiency. “Hitachi Energy is committed to bringing innovation and technologies, which we will share [in the workshops] today. But this is something that Hitachi Energy cannot do alone in Vietnam. That’s when we need friends and partners in the industry to work together to bring sustainable energy to all in Vietnam”, he said.

Together towards a sustainable energy future in Vietnam

Partner's Day attracted a large number of participants in the energy industry who joined multiple intensive technical workshops and customer-based sharing sessions throughout the day.

From the customer side, Nguyen Dang Khoa - Deputy General Director of A Chau Group praised Hitachi Energy for organizing such a meaningful event to allow companies to access lattes new  industry trends.

The Deputy General Director of AIT Group, Luu Huy Hoang, appreciated the 10-year collaboration between the two companies. Over the past two years this partnership intensified, when people came together to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic. He said: “When the hard period has passed, it is time for Vietnam in general and the energy industry in particular to thrive. I believe Hitachi Energy and all partners here today will contribute to this development”.

Digital transformation

The inaugural session was followed by various technical break-outs. Presenting the goals of transformer digitization via Teams meeting from Singapore, Mr. Bhaba Das, Lead Digital Business Developer of Hub AMEA shared latest information of future of transformer online monitoring - Txpert Ecosystem. The world of energy is changing, and it requires higher velocity of decision making, data collection and data analysis. Many new business models, revenue and opportunities have been created thanks to this digital transformation.

EconiQ™ transformers and high-voltage switchgear  got a fair share of the spotlight  at  this event. EconiQ™ is Hitachi Energy’s eco-efficient portfolio for sustainability where products, services and solutions are proven to deliver exceptional environmental performance. It enhances sustainability performance via decarbonization and maximizes the recycling of materials used in manufacturing. Dr Bhaba Das introduced the concept of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of power transformers and explained the life cycle phases contributing to the highest CO2 emission from the transformer. The topic sparked a lot of interest from the audience the discussion continued throughout the Q&A session.

Another two innovative solutions that received significant customer  attention  were the application of transient voltage protection (TVP) and the CompactCool technology. Thanks to the built-in transient voltage protection technology, it offers 100% protection from transient voltages from circuit breakers. This is the only solution to control voltage rises internally and externally to transformer windings. The new CompactCool technology combines the advantages of both liquid-filled and dry-type cooling technology. CompactCool offers the benefits of a dry-type transformer while reducing transformer size, weight, and no-load losses as well as creating the ability to extract losses in an innovative and controlled manner - ideal for data centres and renewable energy segments.

Meanwhile, the Grid Automation conference room was filled with 120 participants to learn about technologies that are helping customers optimise their critical systems across their value chain.

The topics focused on battery energy storage systems, operational efficiency, and maintenance of the power system, all of which have seen rapid changes due to the energy transition as a result from the need to increase and add renewable energy in the power system. Participants also had a chance to witness demonstrations of the digital substation automation system and Hitachi Energy’s asset and work management, powered by Lumada. The Lumada APM demonstrated analytics and predictive insights of the transformer's health monitoring and maintenance, which empowers customers to proactively monitor and address potential problems that ensures asset reliability, and efficiency while maintaining competitive in the market.

In the afternoon, High Voltage team brought exclusive information on digital PASS, digital compact equipment, digitalization route map, active filters and cables. For the very first time, Hitachi Energy introduced to Vietnam’s users the modular switchgear monitoring (MSM) for HV switchgear.

In the other conference room, local and regional speakers of Grid Integration shared their insights on RelCare solution on digital service cooperation agreement to optimize operating costs and maintenance of 110 - 500 kV substation, SVC Light® STATCOM power quality solution, SC fixed series compensator for 500kV transmission grid & TCSC thyristor controlled series compensator minimizes SSR (Solid-state relay) (for low frequency synchronous resonance), and Grid-eXpand™ substation modules packed in container up to 420 kV. Another impressive experience with GI workshop was the “Tap to explore” screens, which simulated HVDC scenarios via interactive segment specific landscapes and 3D models. Participants could also learn more about other exclusive content such as videos, documents, customer success stories, pictures, and more.

The 2023 Partner's Day was nothing short of a success!

The event once again emphasized that sustainable energy future could only be realised with our unified commitment from both supply and demand roles in the power system, supported by advanced technologies. Hitachi Energy were proud to share our vision and world-leading innovations in Sustainable products & services and Digitalization with our partners in Vietnam.

Let's join forces and co-create a sustainable future for all!
