Isolation transformers
Isolation transformers are special transformers used to isolate the AC network from DC leakage currents caused by DC rails in close proximity to AC rails. Due to the DC immunity requirements, the isolation transformers need an air-gapped core design. Therefore, a strong test system is required in the factory. A lightning impulse test is always done as a routine test. The isolation transformers connect two circuits magnetically but not physically (mechanically). Avoiding metallic conductive paths between the circuits, they avoid electric disturbances between the two circuits.
