SCADA Applications Specialist

Responsibilities:

As a SCADA Applications Specialist you will be a member of our Polish Operation Center team in Krakow, supporting delivery of SCADA systems and applications globally. Some of the primary objectives of this role include delivering configured systems using Network Control approved product implementation standards, as well as acquiring working knowledge of regional market needs and helping drive standardization in the delivery process. The SCADA Applications Specialist is responsible for ensuring adequate documentation of required processes and practices.

  • Gather and validate data required to configure NM SCADA applications.
  • Provide technical assistance in evaluating performance and results of SCADA applications, systems and procedures.
  • Write and maintain functional specifications for new or modified business systems.
  • Translate business models into an information system representation.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement plans to test business and functional processes.
  • Conduct test of system functions, validate results, detect errors and coordinate resolution of identified problems.
  • Perform testing and root cause analysis tasks according to organization's quality process.
  • Provide problem solving, technical, and business expertise in the design, testing, and deployment of business applications.

Your background:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or computer science field and 2+ years of experience in the IT/IS industry in a technical support or consulting role.
  • Knowledge of the Open Systems Interconnection model (OSI) model and data transmission and communication.
  • Knowledge of programming languages like C++, C# or scripting programming languages like Python.
  • Knowledge of industry standard communication protocols such as DNP, IEC870.5, TASE.2 and others is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and data modeling.
  • Excellent computer skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office and Microsoft Visio.
  • A basic understanding of Operating systems (Windows and Linux).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate verbally in English.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A Master’s degree in a technical field or specific experience with SCADA systems is a plus.
  • Experience with SCADA, EMS or DMS systems or similar.
  • Knowledge of industry model standards such as the Common Information Model (CIM) standard is a plus.
  • Knowledge of power system models is a plus.
