Our unique global operating model incorporates geographically distributed feeder factories that focus on producing standardized modules, and final assembly factories located close to delivery sites that customize these modules to meet specific customer requirements. The company’s focus on cultivating a world-class workforce in its feeder factories is a testament to its commitment to quality and operational excellence. The global operating model enables scalability and flexibility of the value chain in manufacturing and engineering, leverages our global footprint and the strengths of different locations, ensures economies of scale and optimizes utilization of resources and expertise.

Hitachi Energy made its first submission for RoSPA safety accreditation in 2023 and achieved Silver level recognition for its approach to health and safety globally.

Our commitment to reducing its environmental impact is evident in initiatives such as the adoption of cardboard packaging, the use of electric forklifts, and the exploration of renewable energy sources, and the sourcing of 100% fossil-free electricity for our operations wherever possible. This aligns with the growing industry-wide emphasis on sustainable practices.

A recent recognition of our commitment to socially and environmentally responsible business practices came when the company was awarded gold for the 2023 sustainability assessment by EcoVadis, the leading provider of business sustainability ratings. This achievement is a testament to the company's commitment to optimizing its operations for sustainability while making the world’s energy system more reliable, flexible, and secure. The rating puts Hitachi Energy in the top 5 percent of companies in all industries and top 1 percent of companies in its industry assessed by Ecovadis.

Dirk Uhde is the Head of HSE and Operations of the High Voltage Products business unit at Hitachi Energy.

He holds a master's in electrical engineering University of Karlsruhe and an MBA from Fundação Getulio Vargas.

Although Dirk’s heart is in operations, where he is responsible for the seamless execution of the thousands of daily tasks from order intake until delivery, he has had a varied career in the High Voltage Products business that has included research and development, quality, product management and sales.

He considers himself a world citizen having spent his entire life travelling the globe and living on three different continents. Dirk is a strong believer in the power of diversity as the key to success.
