The Geheyan hydropower plant owned by Qingjiang Hydropower Development Company Limited, is built on the Qingjiang River, a tributary of the Yangtze River. With an installed capacity of 1.2 gigawatt (GW), the plant plays an important role in central China’s social, economic and environmental development and is contributing to country’s long-term goal of becoming carbon-neutral.
Operational since 1994, the Geheyan hydropower plant is the backbone power plant for peak load shifting and frequency regulation in central China’s power system. Its continuous and trouble-free operations is critical for stable power supply in the region.
To ensure the aging power plant continues to operate smoothly, Hitachi Energy will modernize the ageing substation using
· State-of-the-art, 550- kilovolt(kV) and 220kV gas-insulated switchgear (GIS)
· Online monitoring solution for improved reliability
The equipment upgrade using latest technology will greatly enhance the reliability of the power plant and minimize power losses as well as reduce fixed asset investment.
