Meet our people: Katarzyna Kolodziej

I am Katarzyna Kolodziej, but most people call me Kasia. I am from Bielsko-Biala, Poland, and now based in Krakow. I graduated from Florida International University in Miami in 2023 with a degree in Business Administration, focusing on International Business. Alongside my studies, I was a Division 1 swimmer, which taught me a lot about discipline, resilience, and pushing myself. I had not originally planned to go into IT, but when I got the chance to join Hitachi Energy's IT Graduate Program, I jumped at it.

I started at Hitachi Energy in October 2023 through the IT Graduate Program, a unique opportunity for recent grads to try out three different areas within IT over 18 months. The selection process was intense; there were 200 applicants, and I was one of two people chosen after a day of interviews and case studies. So far, I have had three rotations: Service Integration Operations, where I supported the Service Enablement team; Cybersecurity Internal Assessment, where I got to learn about audits and cybersecurity; and now the Service Integration PMO, where I am working with project management processes.

One of the things I love most about this program is the variety. Each rotation gives me a new challenge and helps me figure out what I enjoy and where my strengths are. Plus, I have had the chance to travel to our offices in Switzerland, Sweden, Austria, Italy, and Turkey, which has been an amazing way to get to know the company and connect with people from different cultures.

Outside of work, I like to stay active and spend time with friends and family. I recently picked up squash, and I love skiing in the winter and rollerblading and swimming in the summer. I also enjoy reading and watching a good series, especially when I am by the sea as it is my favorite place to unwind.

Hitachi Energy is a great place to work because they really care about making a difference in the world of sustainable energy. I appreciate the company's focus on learning and growth; it is a supportive environment where everyone is willing to help each other out. Through this program, I have had the chance to work on meaningful projects, meet talented people, and build a strong foundation for my career.
