For our HVDC product group, we have an exciting opportunity for a Project HSE Manager to join the HVDC HSE Operation Team in US.

The Project HSE Manager will report directly to the Project Director and functionally to the Global Head of HSE Operations/HUB HSE Manager in US. Their focus will be on the strategic HSE objectives of the project and contractual obligations, ensuring that the highest standards of health, safety and environmental performance are achieved, monitored & maintained; driving continuous improvement in all areas of HSE.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Review Customer HSE requirements and demonstrate how Hitachi Energy will manage HSE through the lifecycle of the project.
  • Prepare all HSE tender documentation in accordance with the ITT and TDL. Submit all preliminary HSE plans to the Customer in accordance with the tender submission dates.
  • Attend clarification meetings and workshops with the Customer (both in person and remotely).
  • Prepare Scope of Works for Subcontractor work packages within the scope of HSE.
  • Submit cost calculations for the project for HSE (resources, consumables, training, and third-party services).
  • Prepare the Project HSE Plan as well as other HSE-related documentation such as the Emergency Preparedness & Response Plan.
  • Participate HAZID Studies with the Project Engineering Team during conceptual and detailed design.
  • Identify and establish the HSE Organization; ensuring sufficient HSE resources are assigned to the Project for each stage of the Project (Construction, Installation, and Commissioning).
  • Ensure activities under the scope of Hitachi Energy are in compliance with legal and contractual HSE requirements as well as internal HSE requirements.
  • Produce reports for Project Reviews, both internal and Customer, and attend the Project Review meetings to ensure the Hitachi Energy HSE Operating System remains suitable, adequate, and effective.
  • Propose HSE KPI’s for the Project and monitor, analyze and assign actions where KPIs deviate from the defined targets.
  • Review HSE documentation from all Hitachi Energy Subcontractors and support Subcontractors to meet internal and Project HSE requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of developments and legislation that impact assigned functions.
  • Monitor and secure the process for HSE reporting in the Project, including internal HSE reporting through local country organization including the global incident database (INTELEX).
  • Initiate, plan, coordinate and follow-up HSE audits on the Project involving Hitachi Energy scope of work and all other involved parties including compliance with legal and contractual requirements according to the Project HSE Plans.
  • Drive and implementation of project safety culture plan /program
  • Lead accident investigations to ensure that root-cause analysis is appropriately conducted and corrective actions address the causes.

Your background:

  • Previous experience of HSE Management in Project of similar size and complexity or other similar proven capacity. Experience in Offshore platform project will get preference.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
  • Strong Organizational and Communication Skills with the Ability to operate within and support matrixed leadership and functional teams.
  • Proven leadership, interpersonal, and influencing skills
  • Fluent in English (Verbal and Written)
  • Knowledgeable of ISO 45001 & ISO 14001Certifications
  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree and five plus years professional HSE experience
  • Professional HSE certification (e.g. CSP, ASP, CIH, IOSH, CUSP, etc. )
  • Experience drafting HSE technical documentation (minimum of 3 years)
  • IT: Proficient in MS Office, SharePoint, ShareFile & Microsoft Teams
