R&D Engineer Power Electronics

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to R&D projects from the initial concept stage to final product rollout
  • Analyze power converter systems, develop and assess modulation, control and protection concepts
  • Perform converter and system-level modeling and simulation, and feasibility and benchmarking studies
  • Analyze impact of power electronics on magnetics (e.g. transients on transformers)
  • Program and test control and protection software on real-time simulators - hardware-in-the-loop (HIL)
  • Develop system design concepts and tools
  • Support customer project tendering and execution activities
  • Organize and execute laboratory testing as well as on-site commissioning at a domestic and international level

Background

  • MSc or PhD Degree (University/University of Applied Sciences) in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on Power Electronics and Control
  • Hands on experience on at least one project including power electronics design, control and testing.
  • Industrial experience with Power Converters and/or Control Software is an advantage
  • Knowledge of magnetics, specially transformers, is a plus
  • Proficiency in the use of simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS and PSCAD
  • Goal-oriented mind-set with excellent organizational and analytical skills
  • Critical thinking and excellent reporting, presentation, and communication skills
  • Team spirit with the capacity to work independently
  • Working proficiency in English. Knowledge of German and French language is a plus.
  • Experience with codesys/ python programming is an advantage
  • Experience with FPGA programming is an advantage
  • Experience with working in an Agile development team is an advantage
