General Information:

Integrated Transformer Management (ITM) is Hitachi Energy’s lean management system, driving continuous improvement to all processes. Hitachi Energy Stoney Creek is searching for a proactive and motivated intern to join our team for a 12-month term, extendable to a maximum of a 16-month term. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to several continuous improvement initiatives through the completion of various kaizens, capital expense, and cost-savings projects, aligned with our lean management principles.

Responsibilities:

• This role requires a strong hands-on individual with leadership, communication, and technical skills to perform some or all the following:

• Follow various projects to completion, working closely with ITM leadership, factory manager, finance, and external vendors (this may include small kaizen events, non-capitalizable cost-savings projects, and large-scale projects)

• Utilize SAP and work alongside our buyer to create relevant purchase orders

• Utilize computer aided design (CAD) to complete mechanical designs for projects when applicable

• Assist with the completion of various 5S/visual management projects

• Lead and work alongside a suitable team of factory employees

• Furnish reports upon completion of projects

Qualifications:

• Third year completed of a bachelor’s degree in a related Engineering field, with plans to return after the work term, or completed a four-year degree program in 2024

• Proficient with MS Excel and other MS Office software

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Inventor, or Solidworks

• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects at a time

• Excellent interpersonal skills

• Understanding of lean management, quality, and continuous improvement
