Customer Success Story

Hulunbeir - Liaoning

Reliable power supply to help industrial development of Liaoning province

In the northeastern part of China, State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC) has built a new HVDC link of 3,000 MW over 920 kilometers from Hulunbeir, in Inner Mongolia, to Shenyang in the province of Liaoning.

The DC power transmission link runs in parallel to an existing alternating current (AC) link, thus creating a hybrid transmission corridor with a higher capacity and greater reliability. The power loss also declines as DC links have smaller losses than AC over long distances.

For this link, Hitachi Energy provided key components for the converter stations at each end of the link, as well as measuring equipment for the converter stations.
