The Egypt team supports the ‘Clean Water and Sanitation’ - UN sustainable development goal (SDG 6)

On January 22, 2023, Hitachi Energy in Egypt, in collaboration with “VeryNile,” participated in a cleaning initiative at Al-Qursaya island located in the metropolitan area of Bahr Al Azzam in Cairo. They participated in helping remove the visible pollution on the Nile River by cleaning boats, tools, and gloves focusing on plastics. The project’s objective is to raise awareness on protecting the environment and supporting the local fishermen to collect and recycle plastic litter from the Nile in a sustainable way.

To efficiently meet the growing population’s changing needs and sustain natural resources, they have come together to volunteer, support, and encourage community service and corporate social responsibility initiatives.

The local team proudly participated in this initiative to make a real, sustainable impact on the people of Cairo. Additionally, they contributed to the whole recycling process of three tons of plastics which will enhance the lives of the local fishermen and towards achieving the UN goal of “Clean Water”.
