My name is Luz Stella Moreno. I was born 58 years ago in Sogamoso, Colombia. Then, I moved to Bogotá more than 30 years ago and joined the current Hitachi Energy company in 1994, so I have experienced all the company's change processes over these three decades. I have a degree in Industrial Engineering from the Universidad Pedagógica y Tecnológica de Colombia in Sogamoso, and in 2006 I completed a postgraduate specialization title in Human Resources Management at the Universidad Externado de Colombia. Throughout my career, I have completed various programs and seminars to stay up to date in my professional field.
I am married to Carlos, a systems engineer at Mitsubishi Electric, for 26 years. We met in 1996. He was working at ABB but left to pursue other careers. In 1998, we decided to join forces and build the family we have today. We have two children: Julián, 25, an electronics engineer with a master's degree in biomedical engineering; and Catalina, 22, who is completing her professional degree in audiovisual communications.
I decided dive in industrial engineering because there were not many options, but I have always been talented with numbers. During my studies, I fell in love with this profession and discovered it is a great discipline. Life is a collection of projects, and industrial engineering provides us with the necessary tools to take on any challenge comprehensively. What I love the most about my career is the diversity of my fields of work and the ability to interact with different people in a company.
My career in Human Resources spans more than 35 years. I am passionate about working with people, their life processes, and their growth, as human beings are a constant challenge in all areas of their lives. My tenure at the company consists of three main stages, each approximately 10 years long: the first was one of growth and understanding of all areas of people management, supporting organizational change processes such as the sale of the Power Generation business. In the second, as head of Human Resources in the country. I focused on the development of people and corporate culture as the leading facilitator of a Global program that allowed me to connect with more than 800 employees in several countries in the region, challenging my knowledge and learning a lot about the organization. The third was the transformation of the HR services model and the transition of businesses from a local to a regional focus. I learned from acquisition projects at other companies and the transition to Hitachi Energy.
I am currently a Business Partner for M&S in Latin America and an HR Business Partner in Colombia, holding the fiduciary responsibility for HR in the country. My role involves supporting corporate functions and other business units. Leading the alignment and finding the right balance for all the stakeholders in the organization - from business, management, employees, and their specific objectives - is very satisfying. I am proud of the organization I work for, and having witnessed the development of the company's values and licenses to operate from its inception to its current peak is an enriching experience.
Being with people is the most rewarding aspect of my work, when they open their hearts so I can offer a word at the right moment, provide solutions during the turbulence they face in their personal and professional lives, or be a friend who listens. I identifying with a maternal role, taking care of non-obvious details that are important for everyone's well-being. I have received many comforting words throughout my career that let me know I am doing the right thing, and it fills me with satisfaction to see that I have positively impacted their lives.
My professional development has come to an end after a successful journey. However, I still have many goals to accomplish. My passion has always been my work, but now that I have the time and the health, I want to dedicate time to self-discovery and developing new skills, putting what I have learned at the company and in life to work for others. My advice for those still developing in a professional environment and just starting out, like my daughter, is to find a balance between their work and personal lives, to invest their time in everyday aspects, and to maintain high standards of quality and respect in dealing with people.
I am happy with my work and grateful to Hitachi Energy and ABB for everything they had given me, from my family to my professional and personal development.
