Job Title: Inventory Specialist

Company Overview:

Hitachi Energy is a leading provider of high-voltage components, specializing in innovative solutions for the electrical utilities and the power delivery industry. As we expand our operations, we seek a dynamic and experienced Inventory Specialist to join our Grid Components team.

Position Summary:

The Inventory Specialist will be responsible for overseeing the efficient management of inventory levels within a power products manufacturing facility. This role involves monitoring inventory flow, managing stock levels, performing regular stock counts, coordinating with production and purchasing departments, and ensuring the accuracy and availability of materials necessary for production. The Inventory Specialist will also be instrumental in identifying and resolving inventory discrepancies, improving stock management processes, and supporting cost-saving initiatives.

This position will report to the Planning & Fulfillment Manager of – Capacitors & Filters business.

Responsibilities:

Inventory Control and Monitoring:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records for all raw materials, components, and finished goods.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure that stock is available for production without overstocking.
  • Track the movement of inventory throughout the manufacturing process and warehouse.

Stock Replenishment:

  • Coordinate with the purchasing department to reorder raw materials and components as needed.
  • Manage safety stock levels to ensure materials are readily available to avoid production delays.

Inventory Audits and Reporting:

  • Conduct regular physical counts of inventory to ensure accuracy and perform cycle counts as required.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies between physical counts and system records.
  • Generate and analyze inventory reports, highlighting trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.

Data Entry and Record Keeping:

  • Accurately enter inventory data into the company’s Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) SAP S4 Hana.
  • Ensure that all receipts, movements, and adjustments are logged correctly and promptly.

Collaboration with Other Departments:

  • Work closely with the production and procurement teams to ensure inventory meets manufacturing demands and timelines.
  • Collaborate with the quality control team to ensure that materials meet required specifications and standards.

Supply Chain Optimization:

  • Monitor and track the performance of inventory management processes, identifying inefficiencies or potential cost savings.
  • Suggest improvements to inventory management procedures and practices.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulations regarding inventory and product handling.
  • Promote and maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment for inventory management.

Problem Resolution:

  • Investigate inventory discrepancies and resolve issues, including lost or damaged goods.
  • Address and resolve issues regarding back orders, stockouts, or inventory discrepancies in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP), Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM)) are a plus.

Experience:

  • 2+ years of experience in inventory management, supply chain, or a related field, preferably within the manufacturing industry.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., SAP S4 Hana) and inventory management software.
  • Experience in the power products manufacturing industry or a similar technical manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of lean inventory management, just-in-time (JIT) strategies, inventory control techniques and demand forecasting.
  • Understanding of material requirements planning (MRP) and other planning tools.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other office applications.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of inventory control systems, processes, and best practices. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
