Vietnam’s Company Day: Marking 30 years of Hitachi Energy in the country

Company Day: Kỷ niệm 30 năm hoạt động tại Việt Nam

November 29th, 2023, over 800 employees of Hitachi Energy Vietnam gathered to commemorate 30 years of co-creating a sustainable energy future in the Southeast Asian country. The event was hosted one day after the successful inauguration of our new transformers factory in Bac Ninh.

It was a long time since people from four different cities could gathered together. This year, the Company Day marked the return of a highly awaited event. It also celebrated a milestone of Hitachi in Vietnam: the 30th years of presence.

Chandan, Country Managing Director kicked off the event with a short speech.

During the country town hall in the morning, we were honored to welcome top leaders from global and the region, including Vice President and Managing Director, Business Unit Transformers Bruno Melles, Managing Director and CEO - India and South Asia Venu N, HUB APMEA Business Unit Manager - Transformers Carlos Pettinau, HRBP, Global Business Unit Transformers Alice Hamman, Global BU Operations Manager - Transformers CP Vyas and GPG Manager - Power Transformers Gustavo Luengo. Besides the sharing from Venu and Bruno, the meeting also appreciated 24 employees that reached their 5, 10, 15 and 20 anniversaries with the company.

A special Long Service Awards delivered by our two leaders Venu and Bruno.

This was a great opportunity for employees from all levels to meet top leaders in person.

The rest of the morning, employees were divided into six teams to compete with each other in team building games. Three stations were set up on the premises of two factories (TR and HV). Team members were selected randomly so that people can get to know the co-workers they had never talked to before. The team spirit was so high that laughs and shouts could be heard from every corner of the facilities.

After lunch time, all employees assembled to enjoy the amazing performances from their own colleagues in the final round of Hitachi Energy’s Got Talent. It was full of surprises seeing the accountants dancing gracefully in traditional costume, or a team of more than 50 people from TR factory standing on the stage and sing an inspirational song. HV team also showed their excellent script writing and acting with a short play. Dressing up as the Kitchen Gods, they reported the company’s achievements and activities during last year to the God. SQDC was also brought to attention with a witty approach. And lastly, with the great choreography for conical dance, the male team from HV factory won the heart of all judges and audience to claim the first prize.

In the evening, all employees joined the management team in a toast to start an entertaining night.

Again, the audience was awed by the astonishing fashion show with models from our own company. With the idea of promoting Diversity 360, nine traditional costumes of HUB’s countries were introduced in an artistic way.

Other performances during the night also came from our internal people, including a duet by Phuong Nguyen Viet (Transformers Factory Director) and Quang Ha Ngoc (Product Marketing Manager), a energetic dance from a group of employees from different functions and a beautiful solo from Huyen Pham Thu (Product Marketing specialist).

Prior to the Company’s dinner, several contests were held to encourage employees to share their memories while working for the company, as well as to build and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Winners of “My journey in Hitachi Energy Vietnam” and “Run for the heart” contests were honored on the stage by the management team. Other employees also got their chance to feel awarded when they became winners of lucky draws or the mini quiz game.

The night ended with the mini concert from a Vietnamese famous singer, whose 6,000 tickets of his recent concert were sold out in two days. A world class production set up provided a glamorous and immersive experience for all participants. There were moments when most employees chanted with the singer, creating a harmony vibe as we were a big family together.

The day ended with lots of handshakes and hugs, showing the mutual appreciation between both the management team and employees. We can’t wait to the next Company Day to enjoy the companion of our beloved colleagues.
