Hitachi Energy is currently looking for HSE Specialist for the Transformers Business to join their team in Mysore, India. This team seeks a skilled and motivated individual.

Mission Statement:

Environmental Health & Safety work encompasses activities related to the environment including the broader community impacted by environmental hazards including: Developing and implementing policies and practices to identify/mitigate hazardous conditions within the workplace and external environments. Investigating accidents and environmental incidents and liaising with engineers, management, and health and safety regulatory authorities to identify causes of accidents and prevent their recurrence. Providing advice and training on safety protocols and conducting audits to ensure compliance with organization and government standards related to environmental heath and safety. Maintaining relationships with the community, environmental groups, and other stakeholders impacted by the environmental performance of the organization An Experienced Professional (P2) applies practical knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience. May require the following proficiency: Works independently with general supervision. Problems faced are difficult but typically not complex. May influence others within the job area through explanation of facts, policies and practices.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Drive the HSE activities at facility and implement identified improvements together with the local management.

  • Secure the alignment with legal and Hitachi Energy global requirements and address when needed·

  • Coach and guide all levels of management, supervisors and employees at facility to establish the safety culture, prevention activities and collaborative approach·

  • Conduct and lead the basic concepts suchlike risk assessment and environmental aspects & impact assessment, training programs, Emergency preparedness, site walks/tours, reporting, GEMBA activities, 5S implementations etc.,

  • Follow up and supervise the HSE performance, hazards, risks and precautions, and take necessary actions where necessary.

  • Participate the incident prevention programs, workshop sessions and incident investigation and analysis studies.

  • Provide competency-based health, safety and environmental training for Hitachi Energy employees and contractors’ staff when required·

  • Perform the periodical or non-periodical reporting within Hitachi Energy or to local authority and other required parties,

  • Participate the internal and external audits of environmental and industrial safety management systems, customer or supplier HSE assessments, waste management initiatives.

  • Notify and report HSE incidents, investigations, preventive and corrective actions and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs to related local & global management),

  • Cooperate with other functions and business partners to drive HSE performance.

  • Reporting on performance of Hitachi Energy Sustainability goals, KPIs and HSE incidents.

  • Raising awareness of and winning commitment to Hitachi Energy Group sustainability targets.

  • Planning and executing HSE and Sustainability projects, managing resources and reporting on goals and progress.

Your Background:

  • Ideally he/she will have a Bachelor’s diploma, degree or above, major in Health, Safety & Environment.

  • 4 to 8 years of EHS experience at industrial facilities·

  • Having Industrial Safety certificates on safety engineering and environmental officer from Govt. authorized institutes will be added advantage.

  • Competent with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. Preferably having auditor certificates for both management systems,

  •  Knowledge about the occupational risk assessment methodologies and techniques along with usage of SAP / ERP system will be added advantage.

  • Very good knowledge of MS Office applications with excellent presentation skills is desirable.

  • Proficiency in both spoken & written English language is required.
